He is an accomplished product leader, marketplace builder, and early-stage startup advisor with over 16 years of experience driving innovation and growth for global organizations. As a strategic thinker, customer-obsessed leader, and long-time mentor and coach, Jose has successfully led five B2B/B2C marketplaces from the ground up in 4 different industries, taking them from idea to millions in revenue. Some of these marketplaces are used today by over 6 million businesses across 15 countries
He specializes in guiding cross-functional teams in environments of high ambiguity, leveraging continuous testing, rapid iteration, and a special deep knowledge of the ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) and the market to achieve product-market fit fast. He has built and led high-performing product teams of up to 18 members, mentoring junior talent and coaching several to senior-level roles. Jose's marketplaces have achieved impressive results, growing from a few customers to millions.
Currently, as the Director of Product AI/ML at Morsum, Jose spearheaded the development of Anchovi, a B2B marketplace for the food distribution industry. Within two years, he grew Anchovi to over 70 suppliers (including 3rd party vendors) and over 5,000 signed-up restaurants, utilizing Data Analytics/Dashboarding and AI/ML models to increase adoption and generate additional revenue for the business. He is an advocate of using AI tools for automating tasks and optimizing the role of the Product Manager.
Previously, Jose held leadership roles at Sngular, Orange, NEC and Telefonica. At Sngular, he led the development of a decentralized clinical trials platform. At Orange, where he was the first hired PM, he spearheaded the constitution of the Product team and orchestrated the successful launch of the Cloud Services Marketplace within an impressive timeframe of less than 9 months. Jose holds an International MBA and is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
